A few weeks ago, Mike and I were in the Philippines to visit other places we haven't been to during our previous visits there. This included flying to the island of Camiguin, a famous volcanic island in Mindanao; the Puerto Princesa Underground River in Sabang; El Nido where several seasons of Robinson (Swedish Survivor was filmed) and lastly Coron with its various rock formations and shipwrecks from World War II.
Camiguin
Puerto Princesa, Palawan
I've been a great fan of the Puerto Princesa Underground River since it was voted as the New Seven Wonders of the World in 2012 so it was self-fulfilling to have finally visited this site. We booked our tour from an online travel agency and was picked up at the hotel in the morning. It took awhile before we reached the Sabang Boat Terminal as we had to pick up other guests from their hotel and made some stops along the way.
Upon arrival at the Sabang Boat Terminal, we (the four of us) waited for less than an hour although we didn't get bored as there were a lot to see 😉 The rest of the group went either zip lining or did the Mangrove Boat tour.
El Nido, Palawan
In 2017, El Nido ranked number four on Condé Nast Traveler's "The 20 Best Beaches in the World". Being home to numerous white sand beaches, blue waters and limestone rocks, it is not difficult to understand why. As we only had one full day in El Nido, we chose to do the Island Hopping Tour A, although it is highly recommended to do all the tours if you have the time. Below are some of the pictures from our stay in El Nido.
Coron, Palawan
After enjoying our two nights stay in El Nido, it was time to leave and visit the other equally beautiful paradise in Northern Palawan, Coron. Getting to Coron from El Nido would require you to take the 6am fast ferry (boats departing later are slow and take about 8 hours) and after just two and a half hours, you will reach the Port of Coron.
Since we only had a full day here (just like in El Nido) we also did just one of the several island hopping tours available. I personally prefer the tour we did here than in El Nido since I was able to see a lot beautiful fishes especially during our snorkeling to one of the shipwreck sites.
